B is the right answerWww@QuestionHome@Com

The war was fought over grievances that had already been settled by the time it started, that it really ended in a tie and that while many say America fought poorly, in truth the British were checkmated at every turn!. For example, they couldn't take Baltimore, couldn't hold Washington DC, couldn't invade from Canada, and on the seas were devastated by one on one encounters with American frigates!. Furthermore, New England was opposed to the war and actually traded with the English while the war was on!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

None of those answers are very good, but I would go with B, though process of elimination:

A: Can't be the answer, the U!.S!. lost many battles, got beaten over and over again in Canada, defeated outside Washington, and the whole war was filled with debacles!.

C: Not the answer, the biggest U!.S!. victory was the Battle of New Orleans, which took place after the war was officially over (though Andrew Jackson and his men to not get word in time)!.

D!. Not the answer, because the U!.S!. did not fight for defensive reasons!. The U!.S!. declared war!. Many among the war hawks wanted to seize Canada!. However, the invasion of Canada failed, so the U!.S!. made few territorial gains, making answer D doubly wrong!.

So, I guess B is the answer!. I suppose it means that the U!.S!. lost many battles, but at the end won the Battle of New Orleans and got some concessions out of the British, which lifted spirits!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
