The way your question is phrased I'm not sure what connection you're making to the Middle East and Canada!. As for Canada being our mortal enemy that hasn't been the case since the war of 1812 ended!. They were not exactly our mortal enemy but they were under the rule of the British government so it was only natural that they would take the side of England in the war!.

Other countries that the U!.S!. lists as allies that were once enemies are Germany, Italy, and Japan!. Just because you're at war with a country at one time is no reason to continue to view them as an enemy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

We were not mortal enemies 200 years ago or any other time!. During the times of the American Revolution those people of what would become Canada were primarily on the side of Great Britain but at the same time we are all of the 'new world!.'

I believe that in all other conflicts in which both nations participated I believe we were, and are, allies!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
