Position:Home>History> Was finland part of the soviet unionQuestion: Was finland part of the soviet union Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: No!. Finland was taken from the Swedes by the Russians in the Russo-Swedish War of 1809!. It continued to be part of Russia until the Russian Civil War that followed the Communist take-over in 1917, when it achieved independence under Mannerheim, and so was never part of the Soviet Union!. In 1940 the Finns fought the 'Winter War' in an unsuccessful attempt to prevent the Russians occupying Finnish territory near Leningrad, and later fought the 'Continuation War' (1941-1944) in an unsuccessful attempt to recover it!. Unlike Eastern Europe, Finland managed to make peace with the USSR without having to accept Soviet domination!.Www@QuestionHome@Com it was part of Russia two decades ago but it never was part of the soviet unionWww@QuestionHome@Com Nope Ma'am :)Www@QuestionHome@Com no lolWww@QuestionHome@Com |
