The cultural revolution was the Chinese equivalent of Stalin's 5 year plans!. It was an attempt to transform society from top to bottom!.

Both the USSR & China were agrarian (farmer) and communism called for a society to be heavily industrialized!. So the forced people into cities, into factories; instead of increasing agricultural efficiency and methods to the point where fewer people were needed like it occurred naturally in Europe & America!.

It also focused on teaching the communist doctrine to the young, to make the party last!.

Sounds relatively peaceful; but millions died in famines caused by lack of food!. China recovered much faster than the Soviets from this, and as a result- China is still around!.

Someime in 1969, started by Mao Tse Tung and his Red Guards who went amuck, to change China overnight, socially and culturally!.
The Red Book became the Bible, compulsorily!.
In the name of the People, Communism does not care for the sufferings it inflicts, on the people, in their effort to change all existing social and cultrural norms!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

It was an attempt to destroy all Western thought, and other non-revolutionary idea, which was led by the Little Red Book by Mao!. Most of the revolution hurt China and was later seen as a mistake!. Look at China now, it is more of a Fascist state than a Communist one!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
