Question: How did European rulers strengthen their power in the 16th and 17th centuries!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
They didn't really need to strengthen their power!.

Because all European royals were and are related and married into eachother's families, their was no war between countries such as Denmark, England, France, Luxemburg etc!. These royal families were already incredibly powerful, the most powerful then and still today being the British Royal Family!. The thing was, the Church of England was introduced to England by Henry VIII, which ended Catholicism in England and many other parts of Europe!. The manjor war between Europen Royals was between Spain and England, where Spain wanted to place a Catholic on the throne in England!. So, they set off with the Spanish Armada during Elizabeth's rule (Henry's daughter)!. The Spanish did not win!.

Since then, there have been no major wars amongst European Royalty, so no power needed to be strengthened!. The villages and people were controlled by their monarchies, and didn't mind having monarchies themselves!. The most recent 'uprising' was in Russia, where the Russian Monarchy ended under Tsar Nichola's rule during the Russian Revolution!. Tsar Nicholas was an INCREDIBLY weak ruler, and did not even try to end his people's starvation!. So, he and his family were overthrown, and Russia became a communist country!.
That was really the only major incident where a European ruler lost his power (in recent times, the 16-17th centuries)!.!.!.

Otherwise, European rulers had their people at hand and so therefore, did not need to strengthen their leadership!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
