Nice to see someone using a spelling that's more true to how his name was pronounced than "Genghis" (which came to us transliterated from one language to another to another)!. Princess Deb gives some very good information about him!.

I would add that, while we tend to think of him conquering the whole empire (or at least, all of China), that's not the case!. He conquered the northern (Jin) Chinese empire; the southern (Sung) empire continued, and was finally conquered by his grandson Kubilai, if memory serves!. The Golden Horde, Chagatai Khanate, and so-called "Il-khanate" were also conquered after his death!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Genghis Khan (IPA: [?i?g?s χa??]) (Mongolian: Чингис Хаан (help·info), Chinggis Khaan, ?inggis Qa?an), c!. 1162–1227), born Temüjin (help·info) (meaning "ironworker"), was the Mongol founder, Khan (ruler) and posthumously declared Khagan (emperor) of the Mongol Empire, the largest contiguous empire in history!.

He came to power by uniting many of the nomadic tribes of northeast Asia!. After founding the Mongol Empire and being proclaimed "Genghis Khan", he pursued an aggressive foreign policy by starting the Mongol invasions of East and Central Asia!. During his life, the Mongol Empire eventually occupied most of Asia!.

Genghis Khan died in 1227 after defeating the Tangut!. He was buried in an unmarked grave somewhere in his native Mongolia!. His descendants went on to stretch the Mongol Empire across most of Eurasia, conquering all of modern-day China, as well as substantial portions of modern Russia, southern Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East!.

Ghengis Khan, a Mongol Khan(emperor), and possibly the greatest military general ever lived

He was born as a son of a chiften!. But after his father was poisoned by his enemies, Ghengis Khan lost everything he had!.

He had to spend his childhood running away from murderers!. He had absolutely nothing in his possession!. (He even had to eat ants and rats to survive)

After he grew up, he began to build his own tribe!. He was the man who don't know how to give up, and he knew how to become a leader!.

10 years of endless war, Khan finally defeated all of his foes, and united the whole Mongol for the 1st time in history!. He was the one who came up with the name of his state, Mongol!.

He tried to turn Mongol into a decent civilization!. He gathered foreign technicians and intelligents(mostly from China and Persia) to build roads, alphabet, social instructures, schools, post offices, law, and the others!.

Then he began to invade the other nations!. Here goes the list

1!.Manchurian = had 600,000 army at the time!. It was the mightest power in asia during that era!. Many mongols were slaved to Manchurians until Ghengis Khan completly wiped out Manchurian Empire!.

2!.China = It was the first time that whole China was conqured by one foreign invader!.

3!.Northern India

4!.Persia = had 400,000 army (Mongol had 170,000)!. Persian king was absolutely sure he will have Khan's head at the end of war, but it turns out it was him that had to give up his head

5!.Middle East = Iraq, Iran, Afganistan, and many others!.!.!.!.

--------------------------------------!.!.!.
he built the empire 4 times bigger than Rome Empire!.

After his death, his sons added

Korea

Russia

Eastern Europe

Some of Vietnam

into their empire, making Mongol the 2nd biggest empire ever built!.

--------------------------------------!.!.!.
His success seems almost impossible to be compared to anything

because Mongol was very weak and poor at the begining

but with Ghengis Khan, they rampaged the mightest and richest nations around the whole world!.

His success makes Alexander and Napoleon seems like nobody
--------------------------------------!.!.!.
Definitely a great general

with great strategy, leadership, charisma, and vision

praised as a savior by his people,

cursed as a invader by his enemies!.

His invasion turned the whole Asia into one single global society,

He gave freedom of choosing religion, job, living places, language and

freedom to commerce people he conqured!. Therefore his success made various Asian culturs to mix and become richer!.

Plus, he was generous to those who surrender!. Most of his highest

beuraocrats were foreigners!. He appointed people by talents, not by

race or his birth class!.

On the other hand, he could be VERY CRUEL to his enemies!.
<Especially to those who once surrendered and betrayed later on>

For example, he killed more than a half of million when he invaded an empire in middle Asia (They killed messengers Ghengis Khan send for friendship)

oh, by the way, he died by natural cause!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

"n 1206, a man known as Temujen was crowned Genghis Khan - "emperor of all emperors"!. His mounted Mongol army swept out of the steppes of Asia in an apocalyptic wave to conquer two thirds of the known world!. Recent finds in the arid lands of Inner Mongolia are casting a new light on Genghis Khan!. Although he was a conquering emperor, Genghis Khan was also a supreme military strategist and clever politician!."Www@QuestionHome@Com
