There are whole libraries about this, but I'll give you a few points!.

The plagues in Europe created a great shortage of labor, which led to the breakdown of the feudal system!. Rather than being tied to their ancestral land, workers could travel wherever wages were best!.

The age of European exploration opened new trade routes and brought great wealth to some, especially in Spain and Portugal, and to the great trading cities of what is now Italy!. This allowed investment in further exploration, in art and science, and in public works!.

Great strides were made in the arts and sciences, and new technologies arose, creating new industries, allowing greater efficiencies, and opening the opportunity for those without noble birth to earn good livings and demand greater rights than allowed under the feudal system!.

The rise of modern banking created opportunities for investment and increased access to capital, further spurring the growth of the middle class!.

All of these changes caused a major shift in consciousness, making people more inclined to look forward than backward, more interest in experimenting than relying on ancient authority, and raised doubts about everything from religion to the divine right of kings!. Political writers began to talk about the rights of all people, and to specualte about better ways to govern!.

And so on!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
