Hey Elizabeth was Henry VIII's daughter!. The Tudor rulers went like this!.!.!.!.!.
Henry VII
Henry VIII
Edward VI
Mary I (Bloody Mary)
Elizabeth I

Elizabeth had no children so when she died the throne went to James I Stuart, (James VI of Scotland) By having no children and killing James Catholic mother (Mary queen of Scots), Elizabeth ensured a Protestant would remain on the throne and also that the crown of England and Scotland would be united, as it has been ever since, so it was the first step of union between them!. The link below gives a good account of the Tudors!.

Elizabeth was Henry VIII's second daughter!. She died in 1603 at the age of seventy but she had no children!. Her successor was James VI of Scotland who became James I of England!. He was the son of Elizabeth's cousin, Mary Queen of Scots, who Elizabeth had executed in 1587!.

Mary Queen of Scots always maintained that she had a better claim to the throne of England than Elizabeth because Henry VIII had Elizabeth declared illegitimate after Anne Boleyn was arrested and executed for treason!.

There were three monarchs in between Henry VIII and Elizabeth I!. Edward VI succeeded Henry but he reigned for only six years and died at the age of 15!. Lady Jane Grey - a cousin of Edward VI - was a puppet Queen for only nine days before she was executed on the orders of Mary Tudor who then became Queen and reigned for eight years until she died of cancer and Elizabeth finally succeeded her!.

If you're a fan of The Tudors on TV then I think you would like 'The Virgin Queen' - it's a four part drama that was on TV last year about Elizabeth I - it's the best drama I have seen about her & it's available on Amazon if you're interested!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Queen Elizabeth I was the daughter of Henry VIII (his father was Henry VII) and his second wife, Anne Boleyn!. She became queen after the deaths of her half-brother, Edward VI, and her half-sister, Mary I (called by many "Bloody Mary")!. Elizabeth I never married and had no children!. The question of who would succeed her occupied a great deal of thought during the final decades of Elizabeth's life, but she refused to name a successor!. The person with the best claim was Mary, Queen of Scots (they were first cousins once removed), but Elizabeth had her beheaded when she thought Mary was plotting to overthrow her and seize the throne!.

At Elizabeth's death, it was decided that the rightful heir was therefore the son of Mary Queen of Scots, who was already recognized as King James VI of Scotland!. He then became James I of England, and was the founder to the Stuart dynasty in England, which became extinct in 1714!. There remained no royal descendants of Henry VIII, all three of his children having died childless!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When Henry VIII died in 1547 the crown passed to his eldest son Edward VI (from his marriage with third wife Jayne Seymour)!.

Edward VI, a sickly boy, passed away aged 16 in 1553 but was persuaded by the scheming Duke of Northumberland to will his protestant crown to Northumberland's daughter-in-law, Lady Jane Grey (also Henry VIII's grand-niece)!. Sadly she only lasted 9 days as Queen for neither the Lords or Commons would accept her as rightful heir!. She, her husband and Northumberland were executed!.

The crown then passed to Mary I (eldest daughter of Henry VIII from his first marriage with Catherine of Aragon) in 1553, who promptly returned the country to catholicism!. She earned the nickname "Bloody Mary" due to her insistance that all protestants who would not reconvert were to be burnt at the stake for heresy!. She died childless in 1558 as her husband, Philip II of Spain, found her physically unappealling!.

The throne was then passed to Elizabeth I (daughter of Henry VIII from his second marriage with Anne Boleyn) who returned the country back to a protestant nation!. She became the symbol of England in the beginning of it's "Golden Age"!. To prevent any further possibility of a return to catholicism she had her nearest catholic relative, Mary Queen of Scots, executed to prevent any conspiracy to have her replaced!. She refused to marry, coming to represent England itself she felt no man was equal to do the job with her!. She died childless in 1603!.

On her deathbed Elizabeth gave her consent to pass the throne to the protestant James I (VI of Scotland) although, ironically, he was infact the son of Mary Queen of Scots who Elizabeth had executed!.
So in 1603, the Hose of Tudor ended and the House of Stuart took their place!. Which was to open up a whole can of worms 40 years later!.

A bit long-winded but I hope it helps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
