The above are correct, Iran (Persia at the time) did not have any influence on the Holocaust at the time!. Iraq during the war had a Fascist coup and was for a short time aligned with Germany (this is the beginning of the Baath Party that would eventually created Saddam Hussein!) until it was retaken by Britain!. The current President of Iran is a Holocaust Denier not because of any vested historical interest for his country, but as part of an overall plan to deny credibility and legitimacy to the country of Israel!. As the Holocaust factors so heavily in the identity of Jewish people, those who would do Israel harm actively try to portray the Holocaust as a lie fabricated by Jewish conspirators in order to garner what these haters consider to be unwarranted sympathy!.

It is particularly ironic, since for the longest time Iran was one of the Muslim nations that was on good terms with Israel!. Specifically, Israel had what they called the 'Third Tier' policy of approaching Muslim nations that were at least two national borders away from them and developing normalized relations!. These included Turkey, Algeria and Iran among others!. Then, after their revolution, in an attempt to destroy Iraq's military power in the ten year Iran-Iraq War in the 1980s Israel clandestinely supplied huge amounts of modern miltiary aid such as parts for fighter planes (both Israel and Iran were equipped with American-made aircraft at the time)!. This also allowed for the necessary high level contacts that made the transfer of sophisticated weaponry to Iran as ransom for Americans held in Lebanon in the late 1980s during the Iran-Contra Affair!.

I hope this helps, although I understand it is probably more than you were looking for!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Iran was known as Persia until 1935!. This is from Wikipedia:
In 1925, Reza Khan overthrew the weakening Qajar Dynasty and became Shah!. Reza Shah initiated industrialization, railroad construction, and the establishment of a national education system!. Reza Shah sought to balance Russian and British influence, but when World War II started, his nascent ties to Germany alarmed Britain and Russia!. In 1941, Britain and the USSR invaded Iran in order to utilize Iranian railroad capacity during World War II!. The Shah was forced to abdicate in favour of his son, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
