Question: Did the countries in the south half of Africa have writing before European colonization!?
I don't mean Egyptian Heiroglyphics or Arabic; I mean a written version of tribal languages like Maa!. Thanks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They did not produce a writing system - probably because of their poor geographic location!. Very few civilizations did!.

The Chinese, Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Phonetician, and South Americans were the few ones with distinct written languages!.

(Mesopotamians, Egyptians, and Phoneticians later influenced the development of the writing system of the Persians, Greeks, Latin, etc)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Meroitic was spoken in the region between the White Nile and the Blue Nile and written in a hieroglyphic alphabet for several centuries before and after the birth of Christ!. The cultures south of the Sahara showed quite a bit of unity!.
