Question: How diffirent would the UK be today if Enoch had become Prime Minister back in his heyday!?
Hello! I don't really understand politics but I am interested in this man Enoch Powell!.
I don't know much about how the UK is run but I do know that Mr Powell is like marmite- people either seem to love him or hate him!.
In asking this question I'd like to know how you think the UK would (or would have been) different had Enoch come in to power and his ideals followed up to this day!.
I'm not suggesting his views were right or wrong and I'd really appreciate it if you'd do the same; please don't rant (so if you have really strong political views it might be best you don't answer), but say what you think the UK might be like today!.

I doubt that the country would be much different today, societies such as England have evolved over hundreds of centuries!. The one thing that is forgotten is the power of media, this above all else during the sixties and seventies was a popular medium and this is what changed people!. The crossing over of cultures has long been part of British culture, take television, not unlike like printing, when that became readily available to the masses it had an effect on its societies!. However, it must also not be forgotten that many different ethnicity's may have ancestors dating back centuries!. The majority through our colonisation of these countries!.
As for the person parading the Nazi emblem, some of your argument is flawed and if I could be bothered would point it out to you, but there is not enough space here!. However, the things you so boldly state and the emblem you brazenly wear, would make most WWII veterans hang there head in disbelief, your ideas and ideals, were certainly not what they fought for!. Are you sure your English!.
Anyway, as I have mentioned, I do not think that Enoch Powell would have made any difference, anyone not actually holding a seat on the side running government, can really say what they want to drum up support!. The reason he became popular at the time was because Britain had been withdrawing from their colonies, enabling Colonial British citizens to visit the Mother Country!. Mr Powell played on our British xenophobic and endogenous nature; built up in the media!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
I remember wishing devoutly in the 1960s and 1970s that Enoch Powell would somehow become Prime Minister!.
He would have been our only hope of provoking a genuine revolution in Britain!.
Instead of namby-pamby 'new Labour' and niminy-piminy 'Lib Dems', we would have had, for the first time in this country, a genuine left wing government!.

The question is - they should have listened to what he was saying back then and not allowed the PC Brigade to take control!.
Had they listened - this country would not be in the state it is now!.
Had he become Prime Minister - you can bet your life we would not have all these control freaks and PC Brigade buttwipes running the country!.
