Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Benjamin Siegel was out of New York, he was connected with Meyer Lansky and Charles Luciano!.

Al Capone and his brothers
Frank Nitti worked for Capone
Johnnie Torrio had brought out Capone from New York
Big Jim Colosimo, who was the boss of the South Side gang had brought out Torrio from New York

Dean O'Banion ran a florist shop, he also ran the North Side gang!.!. George Moran worked for him!.

After O'Banion was murdered, the north side gang was run by a couple of different guys, finally George Moran was the last one left!.

I avoid nicknames, since I don't really know any of the parties personally, and they were known to be very particular about what they were called!. Siegel, whose nickname meant someone who is crazy, would react quite violently to anyone calling him that!. Just as Mr!. Capone would be offended by anyone calling him Scarface!.

If you can get access to the Chicago Tribune archive through Proquest, it covers the period from 1849-1985 in pdf, the articles about the incident on North Clark Street on February 14, 1929 are fascinating!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Big Jim Colosimo and Johnny Torrio (predecessors of Capone);

Frank Nitto, alias Frank "The Enforcer" Nitti (Capone's successor);

Mike Merlo, head of Unione Siciliana and reputed Mafia leader until his 1924 death by cancer;

Genna Brothers gang, allied to Torrio-Capone mob;

Other South Side gangleaders: Frank McErlane, "Polack Joe" Saltis, James Edward "Spike" O'Donnell and brothers (unrelated to West Side O'Donnell Gang); Ralph Sheldon;

Johnny Moore, alias Claude Maddox, leader of Capone-allied "Circus Gang," operating out of Circus Cafe on North Side;

Dean O'Banion and successors Hymie Weiss, Vincent "The Schemer" Drucci, and George "Bugs" Moran of the North Side Gang;

Joe Aiello and brothers leading North Side Sicilian gang allied to "Bugs" Moran;

Jack Zuta, North Side vice boss allied to Moran and Aiello;

Terry Druggan and Frankie Lake, leaders of West Side "Valley Gang" allied to Capone;

William "Klondike" O'Donnell and brothers leading West Side O'Donnell Gang (unrelated to "Spike" and South Side O'Donnells);

Eddie Vogel in Cicero;

Labor racketeers Mossy Enright and "Big Tim" Murphy;

Roger Touhy, running beer, slot machines, and labor rackets in Northwest suburbs!.

(There were many more!. And as others here have noted, "Bugsy" Siegel was NOT a Chicago gangster!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Al Capone of course is the most famous, but a couple of others before and after him also ran things during prohibition Johnny Torrio ran things before Capone attempted to kill him and he retired!. Frank Nitti took over when Al went down!. And a little after the era in the early 1940s Tony Accardo took over and some people believe that he actually ran things up until he died in 1992 while putting others as front men such as Sam Giancana to take heat off of himself!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.also I think the person above me meant to say Bugs Moran because Seigel was out of New York and Vegas!.!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Capone's rival: Bugs Moran, Frank Nitti tookover after Capone, but Prohibition had been repealed before that!.

"Big Jim" Colosimo, Johnny Torrio:, Dean O'Banion, Earl Wajciechowski aka Hymie Weiss, and the Genna Brothers!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Al worked his way up, first came from New York, to work for Slim Jim Colisimo!.

The Nittis still have cousins in Chicago, one of them has a travel agency!. They're pretty close to the Como Inn, which served Al, and is still in business!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
