Macedonians weren't enemies of Greece because they were Greek, so that comment makes no sense!.

As for the naive question asked by the 'asker', Rome never really 'crushed' or 'conquered' Greece!. Persians after the Greeks and Romans conquered them dweedle down to a shadow of themeselves!. Why do you think Greek culture survived and pervailed well after the Western Roman Empire fell to Germanic and other tribes!? To Romans, Athens was still the center of learning and culture!. In intellectual and artistic matters, Greek leadership was acknowledged and sought by the Romans!. Greeks were used as teachers, and Greek philosophy was embraced by the Roman aristocracy!. Greece was slowly built up by the Romans and the Greek cities of Asia Minor recovered prosperity much more quickly!. In 286 A!.D!. Emperor Diocletian divided the Roman Empire into two parts for administrative purposes!. Greece lay in the eastern part, later known as the Byzantine Empire!. Don't they teach anything in school these days!? I suggest you read "A Greek Roman Empire" by Professor Fergus Millar(University of Oxford) for starters!.

Oh and by the way if you don't believe anything that Herodotus wrote then you shouldn't believe anything about the Iranians history given most of what we know about Iranians both the good and the bad are from Greek accounts, not Iranians and not the Romans given Roman accounts were mostly rehatched Greek accounts!. ;-p

Edit: and lets not forget Herodotus has been proven correct in his accounts before, including the one in where he states the Etruscans were originally from Anatolia - and many 'scholars' and other individuals in modern times who made fun of him for this ended up having egg on their faces when a team of geneticists from different universities in Italy and Spain undertook the first genetic studies of the ancient Etruscans, based on mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) from 80 bone samples taken from tombs dating from the seventh century to the third century BC in Etruria!. The studies did show that the areas of historical Etruscan occupation share a relatively high concentration of y-haplogroup G with Anatolians!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Not very!. Greeks were completely on the Roman side, against their ancient enemy - Macedonia!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Rome's involvement with Ancient Greece started around the end of the third century!.
Rome first fought with Macedon in 214-205BCE but it was a half hearted affair!.
The next war was in 200BCE
By 198-188BCE there were further military interventions
By 148BCE Rome had just managed to subdue Macedon
146BCE Corinth fell to the Romans!.
by 140BCE the Romans had crushed all revolts in Ancient Greece!.

Most Hellenistic scholars agree that it took around sixty years to totally conquer Ancient Greece although Greek culture was to pervade every part of Roman life from then on!.
