Depends on what your question is aiming at!. If you want to know who would win a fight man on man, it largely depends on the man as such!. There were brilliant fighters in Europe as well as in Japan!. And the different styles of combat would make it interesting!.
The outcome would also depend on the quality of the weapons and armor!. A good katana might get through a knights armor while any sword will cut through the wooden armor of a samurai!. We just can't say that a samurai or a knight would always win!.

In open field battle it depends on the tactics!. If the samurai would choose to fight a direct confrontation battle, charge head on the lances of the knights!.!.!. On the other hand, samurais would be light horsemen!. And if the light horsemen use their advantage in speed and maneuverability, they will win a confrontation with the heavy horsemen!.

The one thing we can say is that the castles as well as the siege engines from Europe were much better!. Samurai would probably never win a siege battle for a European style castle while knight would be able to break down the walls of a Japanese castle!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It depends, really!. If they fight man to man on foot, I dunno if the katana can pierce through authentic medieval armour but I'm sure lances and swords can pierce though Japanese armour!. I judge that it will be based on the individual's skills on who will win, you know, since they are many factors to consider like the weather or the quality of the weaponry and many other!.

If you ask about army battles, I'll go to European knights!. Since they are heavy their cavalry charges and flank attacks makes them the tanks of the middle ages!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

wtf!? i keep reading samurai answers!. i will have to say KNIGHTS, dude , have you checked or even seein what knights wear!? its armor that an average guy in this generation couldnt wear or even carry!. samurais usually use katanas which will never pierce through that metal armory!. knights would just wait for them to tire off while they keep dodjing attacks maybe!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They had more skills, better maneuvers and also better thinking power!.
