Question: Do you think that Christopher Columbus deserves a day!?

I did a speech on why Christopher Columbus does not deserve a day and I was wondering what others thought!. my basis for my claim is that he really did nt "discover America!. What do you think!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

He did pave the way for the European colonization of the New World, and as a result, the creation of the United States!.

However, he also committed many atrocities along the way, in particular the extermination of the people of Hispanola!.

It is hard to say if he deserves a day or not!. Should we honor someone who committed such crimes against an indigenous people!? Or was it for the good of "progress"!.

The fact is that it is an American tradition, and is seen as a national holiday by the government!. Thus, Columbus Day is not going anywhere!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
