The French, in particular!. Then the Dutch and the Germans!.

The Spanish, Portuguese and later French had settlements before the English came!.

Hence the French and Indian war, which also included the English!. And why people of Latin heritage also have Spanish(Spain) heritage and why they now speak Spanish!. The conquistadors didn't just go to Mexico ans South America!. Columbus sailed for Spain!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Spanish came first followed by the French then British

Spanish - Florida, New Orleans, California, Texas or Tejas, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado
French - Louisiana following the Spanish
The dutch were not here nor were the Germans at this time!
British established colonies and eventually the French and Indian war pushed the French out, giving the British rule of America!.

The next largest group of immigrants came from Norway!. There was also a large number of Germans who immigrated to the USA thru Texas and other Southern States!. Obviously there was also a great influx of Italians also!. To a smaller degree there were also Eastern Europeans from Czechoslovakia and Poles to name a few!. Orientals also settled in the West!. In the southern US, there were English, German, Scotch-Irish (Scots who settled in northern Ireland in the 1600s, then further emigrated to the US), Scotch (lowland and highland) and French!. And of course a few from other cultures!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
