Question: Why intellectual achievement started in greece, not in rome, persia, china or somewhere else!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Intellectual achievement comes from all over the globe!. I happen to be Greek but I know not to be nationalistic like that!.

Of course, how would a Greek and a Chinese person ever interact back then!? Their homelands were too far away for them to share their cultures!.

There have been many philosophers of all nationalities in the world!. Perhaps it is just that the Greeks (remember, Alexander the Great had spread Greek culture with his large empire) were in the right place at the right time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Intellectual achievement didn't start in Greece!. There is great literature from previous civilizations, and the Greek alphabet actually came from the Phoenicians!. However, the Ancient Greek language is particularly well-suited clear, precise and beautiful expression of thought!. The syntax and vocabulary make philosophy easier!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Its an inaccurate statement!. Its simply that the Greek philosophers had the largest effect on western culture - but wisdom literature predates Greek society!. The ancient Egyptians and Sumerians had phiosopohical writings!.

In fact, Herodotus states that all Greek knowledge and thought was derived from the ancient EgyptiansWww@QuestionHome@Com
