1!. In the late 19th centruy the government generally favored the unions in disputes between businesses and labor unions!.

2!. Both Republican and Democrats operated political machines in the large cities of the United States!.

The first is false!. In the late 19th century, government, especially the Supreme Court was almost entirely on the side of large businesses as opposed to unions!. You don't see any sort of hand extended out to unions generally until the 1930s and 1940s!.

The second is true!. Everyone ran political machines!. The democrats, I would say, are more famous for it (especially in Chicago) but Republicans absolutely did so too!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
