Question: Causes of war!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
land!. one nation has more productive land than another, or the attacking nation needs food or other resources the other land has!.
Population!. When the population of one area gets too large, people have to move out!. they may migrate peacefully, but eventually they run into people unwilling to allow them to stop, whether temporarily or permanantly!. War ensues!.
Social makeup!. Some nations or groups are warlike by nature, and live in an endemic state of war!. They may use excuses such as insulted honor, prior claims to a territory, or simply that because they are stronger they have the right to invade!. This is more true of societies in older times, especially those that were nomadic or semi-nomadic, and where they fought similiar tribes or groups!.
Confidence!. A nation/group will attack if they believe they can defeat the other side at a reasonable cost!. The reason for attacking may be one of the above, or it may be a defensive move/first strike situation, where they believe an enemy is planning to attack them!.
Fear!. Like above, except that the attacker doesn't have the level of confidence of victory!. But they attack anyways because the enemy may be in an even stronger position later if they do not attack!.
CLAIMED causes of war would be religion, national pride, prior claims to territories, or a ruler with aspirations to being a great general!. In these cases its usually one of the other reasons that is the underlying cause, and these are used to "justify" the aggresion!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

World War one for example was the result of leaders' aggression towards other countries which was supported by the rising nationalism of the European nations!.
