I assume you were old enough when we celebrated the new year of the Millennium!. Remember it was 12/31/1999!. Once the clock struck midnight it was already the 21st century (a new year, & a new mallinium fo that matter)

So the 20th century: 1/1/1900 - 12/31/1999
19th century: 1/1/1800 - 12/31/1899
18th century: 1/1/1700 - 12/31/1799Www@QuestionHome@Com

1901-2000 was the 20th Century!.

Despite the official hoopla in 2000, the present Millennium and the 21st Century both actually began in 2001!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

18th century January 1,1701- December 31,1800
19th century January 1,1801- December 31,1900
20th century January1, 1901-December 31,2000Www@QuestionHome@Com

But good luck convincing anyone of that!Www@QuestionHome@Com

The 20 century consists of the years 1900-1999 etc!.!.!.etc!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Twentieth Century was 1900-1999
Nineteenth was 1800-1899
etc

Strictly speaking the 20th Century didn't really begin until 1901 (or end until 2001)!.

This is because there was no year "0"!. So the First Century AD (the first hundred years) was 1-100

The Second Century was 101-200

etc!.

However, in common usage everybody tends to regard the 20th Century as beginning in 1900!. The 19th Century in 1800, etc!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
