Question: Why do people say that!?
Hello everyone!. I have been doing a lot research to educate myself about African American history!. My research tells me that a lot of people believe that black people have a grudge over slavery!. Why do they say that!? Before you say that it is true, I want you to think about what happened after slavery!. The Jim Crow laws end in 1964, and African Americans got their voting rights in 1965!. My grandmother, who is still alive, was born in 1917, and my father was born in 1946!. Even though they wouldn’t have been slaves, I think they would have gone through a great deal of hardship!. I would just like to hear your experiences!. I would also like to know where I could find more information!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i studied civil rights all year in history this year, and i agree that racism and african american suffering was not even close to over after slavery was abolished!. even today there are still huge amounts of racism, its horrible!. Your grandmother and father must have gone through A LOT!. you're really lucky to have your grandmother still alive! you should talk to her as much as possible, she probably has a lot of stories and information you cant find on the internet!. what would you like more info on!? just african american civil rights in general!? in school, we read a book called A Dream of Freedom, all about the progression of african american civil rights!. it was good overall, very informative!. man, i wish i could just like take you to my school! i had the best history teacher EVER!. lol!. anyways, i definately recommend that book!. if you want to learn about more contemporary civil rights struggles, i gave a speech about the Jena Six!. just last year, in jena, louisiana, there were racial tensions at a high school, and some white kids hung nooses in a tree, as a warning to black students not to sit there!. Over the next few days, white students beat up a black student, pulled a gun on several black students, and taunted black students!. 6 black students beat up a white student who had caused a lot of this, and are being tried in court for things as harsh as attempted murder (which would lead to 22 yrs in prison) white students are not being prosecuted nearly as much (the white students who hung the nooses were only suspended!) and the town is primarily white (white judges, cops, principles, juries!.!.!.) its a lot more detailed than that, but i would be writing forever!

If you want to know more about the jena six, or any part of civil rights and stuff, hit me up! ( i could've written a loooot more, but it wouldnt all fit lol) i can send you my speech, and papers from my history class!

Hope this helped!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Ever heard you can't see the forest because of the trees!? The truth of the matter is all people no matter of race in the United States today are SLAVES!. What!? If a person is told what they can and can't do, is that slavery!? Study the IRS and the Federal Reserve history and facts and think hard about what you learned before making your own mind up!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

some people do hold it against the government that their ancestors were slaves- some don't!. it's all a matter of person!. the country has come a long way, but many racist groups still exist and many attitudes still exist that favour caucasian people over african-american people!. it is silly, but it happens!. there are some areas in the country that are worse than others!. the people who generalise and say that all african-american people have a grudge about slavery are making broad race-based assumptions and need to rethink where they learned that!. there is never an 'all' about any grouping of people, from my experiences!.
your parents and grandparents probably did have a lot of hardships in their lives, but they may also have been lucky and lived in areas where people were more progressive!. if you can ask them questions, do so!. if you can't, find communities where you can- does a friend have a family member you can ask opinions of!? is there a teacher you are close to and can ask!?

keep asking questions- this is a good way to help end racism in this country- by questioning the statements that classify entire groups as one thing or another!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
