Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
In what was later to become England / Wales / Southern Scotland there lived "Britons", who spoke a P-Celtic language which linguistic historians call Brythonic and which is the ancestor of the Welsh, Cornish and Breton languages!. In Northern Scotland lived "Picts" who also spoke a P-Celtic language but with an admixture of a pre-Celtic tongue!. (Nobody in mainland Britain yet spoke Gaelic; the Gaels hadn't yet come east from Ireland to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland!.)

Absolutely no Goths - they didn't start moving westwards out of Eastern Europe till the 3rd and 4th centuries AD and anyway they never got as far as Britain!Www@QuestionHome@Com
