Throughout the the last few thousand years, many nations and peoples have employed the use of slaves to do a variety of tasks!. Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: The Egypytians enslaved the Israelites for 200 years!. The Israelites themselves had slaves, but they had rules!. After seven years, they had to give the slave a choice of freedom or slavery!. If the slave chose to remain a slave, he was stood up to a post and a nail was driven through his ear lobe!. An earring was put in the ear to show that the slave belonged to a particular person!. Slavery has existed throughout time!. It used to be a way of increasing power and wealth!. Nations would raid other nations, and take booty and slaves!. The Navajos were particulary hated by other tribes for this practice, but they themselves were also taken as slaves in raids by other tribes!. I believe Africa would be the most responsible for perpetuating slavery!. There are many different tribes through the nation and there are those who have no qualms about raiding other tribes and taking slaves!. Where do you think the slaves in America came from!? Yes, the Europeans brought them, but they bought the African slaves from other Africans who had captured and sold them!. They are still doing this today, especially where there are diamond mines!. People, especially children, are stolen and forced to work as slaves in the diamond mines until they die!. And American children complain about school!.Www@QuestionHome@Com If you are speaking specifically about "Black" slaves in relative modern times, the last 500 years, The Africans themselves were the most prolific slave holders/sellers!. Go back a bit in history and you will find that slavery was a way of life for millions in the ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Roman empires!. The Europeans got into the trade much later!. Persons of conquered lands were sold into slavery as a matter of everyday occurrence!. No single race or country is to blame for slavery!. It is a human condition that continues today in the form of indentured servitude in many countries!. Outright slavery exists in Africa and China and other countries!. Later on, (relatively more recently) English profitted from it, and Southern US used them to do their work while they lived lives of leisure and luxury!. They have imported the most slaves from Africa, and their Moslem "brothers" still practice slavery inside of Africa itself!. Of course they are protected by the U!.N and the international Moslem community, so its isn't as widely known!.
