Question: What was considered to be beautiful in early 19th century England women!?
I'm interested to know if there were other features that were considered beautiful compared to today!. For example, these days it is (not accounting for differences in taste) popularly considered beautiful to have long (possibly blond) hair, large breasts, a tan, and so on!.!.!.

Has anyone run into historical information/studied this aspect of the past!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Just to get this right - - - early 19th Century would be around 1800 to say 1830s after that we are talking about the mid 19th Century!.!.!.!.!. O-K!.!.!.!.

Plump but not fat, the corset thing was not yet in (that would be mid 19th) - - - wide child bearing hips, big knockers have always excited Men (and women), but the tan was out instead a pale white porcelain doll was thought best!.!.!. Women wore dresses that emphasize the bosom and covered up everything else therefore hands were important! That's right, men go for what they can get - - - delicate pretty hands were a turn on (thus the Seinfield Man Hands episode had historical reverence)!.!.!.!.!. Blond was o-k but brunettes tended to rule! Black hair was exotic! In an era when so much of the body was covered up an expressive face was important - - - a woman might not be allowed to talk to a man due to social restraints but she could gaze at him from across the room and have eye sex with him - - - (wink wink, roll the eyes, nearly close them, and so on, this actually pops up in literature)!.!.!.!.!.
You would be best to examine portraits of the era, the National Portrait Gallery is a great option!.!.!.

the ultra skinny woman of today was not considered attractive right up until now!. even in the days of the very norrow waist being really skinny was not considered attractive, Corsets not only pulled in the waist but also lifted the breast to make them look bigger, and woman wore bustles for a larger looking bottomWww@QuestionHome@Com

The nudes of that period had some extra weight to them!. Look up the artwork of Rubins for an example!.

The women weren't obese, but they weren't skinny as a rail either!. Overly skinny women were associated with poverty then!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
