Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
There are definitely many women to choose from!. My favorites are Rosa Parks, Eleanor Roosevelt, Mother Teresa, Clara Barton,!.!.!.etc!. It took a strong woman to refuse giving up her seat to a Caucasian person in those times, but Rosa Parks did it!. Even if it meant getting arrested!. Eleanor was a great women's rights activist and human rights activist!. She had overcome so many obstacles in her life and was triumphant!. Mother Teresa is one of the most respected women because of all her volunteer charity work and her passion for helping people in need!. If every person was that way, the world would definitely be a better place!. Clara Barton was the founder of the American Red Cross after the Civil War!. Such a courageous woman that helped so many people!. These women are some of the many influential people that made a lasting impact on America that we admire greatly and have great respect for!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think there are also a few from asia!.
Emperor Wu Ze Tian of the Tang dynasty(618-907) of China!.(or you could call her Empress)She was the only official woman ruler of China and had made quite a significant contribution!.She was one of the rulers who made the Tang dynasty grew strong, making it one of the most prosperous dynasty in the history of China!.
Another woman is Queen Suriyothai of Siam who went on the battlefield and fought for her King husband!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Florence Nightingale was really the original nurse!. SHe was from an upper class family and gave up her wealth and status to change the nursing profession into something important and respectable (although her father did give her an annual allowance which allowed her to pursue her interests)!. She worked tirelessly for the poor and for medical care for the poor!. She refused several offers of marriage believing it would interfere with her work!. Prior to her entrance into the nursing world, nurses were considered unsavory characters who also doubled as cooks!. They traveled with the army and had no special training!.

Elinor of Aquataine was a pioneer for womens' status!. She was, in many ways, the first women's libber!. Women were only treated as chattel in her time, but she was instrumental in establishing the rules of courtship (the rules of chivalry)whereby men courted women and treated them as a refined people worthy of great care and attention!. She was from southern France and when she married the French king, she found Paris cold and oppressive!. When she met the English King, Henry II, she ran off with him and became the British Queen!. She was the mother of Richard the Lionhearted!. When he was kidnapped in France on the way back from the crusades, she raised the money to pay his ransom!. She was a strong, powerful woman!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'd go with Abigail Adams!. Any woman who could beard that old lion (John) in his den could manage anything!.

Elizabeth was not widely respected in her lifetime, what with all those people calling her bastard and apostate!.

Mrs!. Parks definitely got the reverends to stop talking and start doing!.

Victoria was queen, but with very little real authority, and after Albert died she retreated into her own circle, sometimes including her family, sometimes just herself and her memories!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My pick is Elizabeth the First!. Born under conditions that led to questions of her legitimacy, growing up in a toxic political envirement, she managed to survive to reach the throne herself!. Once there she did the unimaginable!. She managed to rule England for decades, without resorting to marriage to "prop up" her claim!. She faced a challenge to the very sovereignty to her throne, withstood the emnity of the most powerful nation in Europe, and weathered the difficulty of guiding her people through the religious turmoils of the time!. She played as an equal in what was then and now considered a "man's game", and she did it better than her contemporaries!. Even today she sets a goalpost for conduct!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
