Question: What were the aims of the French Revolution!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
At first it was to give the Third Estate a right to have a say in the ruling of France and break the absolute power of the monarchy!. The dream of the first revolutionaries was to have a monarchy more like the British, with the king (and the nobles) held in check by a parliament and less obligations and more rights for the lower classes!.
Then the moderates got run over by the fanatics as the king did lots of stupid things that didn't help his case (like running away) and the equality for all and a republican state replaced a parliamentary monarchy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I saw a docco just a few days ago that explained why food was such an issue, Apparently there had been several famins since the 14th century, which were caused by wat the scientists and historians are calling the little ice age!. For quite a long time during this cold period the people tried to continue to grow there cereal crops (wheat oates etc)!. Now for some time the Church were teling peasants that it was a sin to eat potatoes so the change from cereals to potatoes was later coming than it should have been, but by the time of the French revoulution most of Europe was planting and eating potatoes!. But for some reason the French peasants refused to change!. The king whom they later excuted tried to convince them to change crops to no avail!. So by the end of the 18th century the people were starving and desperate!. they just wanted to eat!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
