The British put troops in New York City from 1776 to 1783 to occupy New York City!. That's what paragoal meant!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There was some fighting and destruction in New York at the start, but after that the New Yorkers made good business out of the British occupation!. It was partly to punish them that New York was not chosen as the capital!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
