Question: Which president was more corrupt!? Harding or Jackson!?
the other night i was telling my sister that warren harding was by far the most corrupt president in history:
- A cabinet member fled the country during his term due to illegal activity
- that cabinet member's secretary committed suicide later
-another cabinet member committed suicide because of illegal activity
- Harding cheated on his wife
- and, after Harding's death in office, people later discovered the incident that would later be known as the "teapot dome affair" where a there was illegal drilling in the west without the approval of congress
my sister thinks that Andrew Jackson was the worst:
-he killed a person in a dual
-he did a lot of gambling
-he always got in fights
is there any information i'm missing

Harding was definitely more corrupt!. Although Andrew Jackson was not a particularly nice person, he was an effective politician!. (Nor was he free from scandal, don't forget the Eaton Affair and Samuel Swartwout) He is also much more interesting!. Jackson was a fervent advocate of Indian removal and fought against Indians in various wars, but he adopted a Creek boy!. It's very reminiscent of the Jefferson "all men are created equal / I own slaves" paradox!. also, everyone remembers how he took down the B!.U!.S!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
Harding was by far the most corrupt!. In fact, nothing on your list for Jackson is even illegal!. Of course, Jackson was a complete nutcase, but he did delay the civil war by a few decades, giving the north time to begin industrializing!.
And, we can't forget, when somebody tried to assassinate Jackson and failed, Jackson nearly beat him to death with his cane!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
