The depression brought about a political crisis, which led too the downfall of democracy in Germany!. It showed up the weaknesses in the constitution!. Germany needed a strong government and leader in 1929 to lead them through the economical crisis!. Stresemann however, died just before the Wall Street crash in Oct 1929!. The two leading parties in the Coalition government, where the Central party and the S!.P!.D, fellout with each other!. The leader of the SPD, Hermann Muller refused to agree to cuts in the unemployment benefit, which the Central party, under Heinrich Bruning, believed was necessary!.
Bruning and the central party no longer had a majority in the Reichstag!. The only way he could continue to govern was too ask President Hindenburg to use article 48 of the constitution!. This meant that laws could be issued under emergency powers rather than having to go through the Reichstag!. Hindenberg agreed, and democracy ended in Germany in 1930!. Between 1930 and 1932 the Reichstag met less and less and became more and more ineffective!.

The rise in popularity was for several reasons:-
Nazi propaganda
Josef Goebbels was in charge of propaganda!. He used every possible method to get across the Nazi message, and carefully trained local groups in propaganda skills!. The Nazis knew that their anti-communist stance was very popular, and Goebbels skillfully used propaganda too whip up fear and hatred of the communists!. They used :-

8 Nazi owned newspapers
Mobile units to organize entertainment and speeches in different areas
Stirring mass rallies using patriotic music, lighting and banners as a backdrop to Hitler’s speech making skills
During the 1932 presidential campaign Goebbels charted planes to fly Hitler all over the country in order too speak to four or five rallies each day!.
Radio was used to broadcast propaganda for the first time!.
The Nazi message was carried to every town and home in Germany!.

The Nazi’s where very well organised!. Many Nazi’s had been soldiers in the First World War, and where experienced in team work, obedience & discipline!. The Nazi party had been recognised in the mid 1920’s!. The local party workers were well trained and motivated!. The had skilled leaders at almost every level!.
The Nazi programme appealed to many different groups in Germany!. Hitler was very flexible, if he found an idea was loosing support he would change it!. For example, the Nazi’s often spoke in favor of nationalization of industries however when the found how alarmed the industrialists were, they quickly dropped the idea!. If all else failed the Nazi’s gave vague promises: “They would make Germany great again”!. However some slogans/promises brought widespread support:
By blaming the Jews for Germanys problems Hitler provided people with a scapegoat and united Germany against all outsiders!.
To the depressed Germans Hitler offered the possibility of a powerful Germany both at home and abroad
Too the unemployed, Hitler promised work
Too the employers he offered the prospect of restored profits!.
There was something for everyone in the Nazi manifesto!.

On the 30th of January 1933, Hitler was invited to become Chancellor!. This was due to serious developments in this period:
The presidential elections in March 1932!.
Hitler challenged Hindenburg for the presidency!. Although Hindenburg won 19!.4 million votes, Hitler’s own position was strengthened by winning 13!.4 million votes!. His campaign provided much-needed publicity for the Nazi ideas!.
The fall of Burning in May 1932!.
His govement could not solve Germanys economics problems – unemployment continued to rise!. Burning, himself, became unpopular as he increased taxes and reduced unemployment benefit!. He was sacked and replaced by Franz von Papen who had the support of the president!. He was a rich Catholic nobleman but had little support from the Reichstag!.
3 The Reichstag elections in July 1932!.
Von Papen hoped to win enough seats to strengthen his position in the Reichstag!. Instead the election was a success for the Nazis who won 230 seat!. They were the largest single party in the Reichstag but did not have the overall majority!. Hindenburg refused to appoint Hitler as chancellor, Hindenburg disliked Hitler seeing him as a “trumped up corporal”!. He preferred Von Papen, but Hitler Refused to Co-operate with him!.
Reichstag Elections in November 1932!.
Hindenburg decided on another election to try to get increased support for von Papen!. This was a bad election foe the Nazis!. They won 196 seats, 34 less than in July, because of:
Continuous campaigning meant they were running short of funds!.
The thuggery and intimidation by the SA had begun to lose them support!.
Von Schleicher as chancellor, December 1932 to January 1933!.
General von Schleicher stopped supporting von Papen and warned Hindenburg of a Nazi and Communist uprising if he continued in office!. He persuaded Hindenburg to make him chancellor!. This caused a dispute between Von Schleicher and Von Papen which in the end handing power to Hitler!.
30th January 1933 Hitler becomes Chancellor!.
Hindenburg wanted Von Papen to return as Chancellor!. Von Papen refused, believing it might trigger a revolt ageist Hindenburg!. He persuaded Hindenburg to appoint Hitler as Chancellor explaining that:
Refusal might lead to civil war!.
There will be only a few Nazis in the cabinet
Von Papen will be vice-chancellor
They will be able to use Hitler and then get rid of him!.

On the night of the 27th of February 1933 came the sensational news that the Reichstag building had been set on fire!. Inside the building the police found a Dutch communist, Marius Van der Lubbe was arrested and charged with starting the fire!. Van der Lubbe was put on trail and found guilty of starting the fire!. Hitler used this as evidence that commonest was plotting his government!.
On the night of the fire 4000 leading comments were arrested and imprisoned!.
The next day Hitler persuaded the president to pass an emergency degree suspending all the articles in the constitution which guarantied personal liberty – such as freedom of speech and freedom of assembly!. It gave the police the powers to search houses, to confiscate property and detain people with out trail!.
The Legal Revolution
With in a few days of becoming chancellor Hitler ask the president to dissolve the Reichstag and call an election!. Through this election Hitler hope to gain an overall majority the Nazi party and pass the laws he wanted!.
In the election of March 1933 the Nazi party won 288 seats in the Reichstag, the national party 52 seats, the central party 74 seats, social demarcates 120 seats, and the communists 81 seats!.
Although the Nazis had increased there number seats, they still had fewer then half the total!. In order to change the constitution legally, Hitler needed a 2 third majority!. He managed to do this by:
using the emergency decree to prevent the communists from taking up the 81 seats they had won!.
Retaining the support of the national party, which had 52 seats!.
Gaining the support of the centre party (74 seats), by promising to defend the interests of the catholic church!.

With 2 thirds majority Hitler was now able to bring about his first change in the constitution!. In March 1933 he introduced the enabling act!. This was the legal foundation of his dictatorship because it meant he could now pass laws with out the consent of the Reichstag the next four years!.
Bring Germany into line
Using the powers now given to him by the enabling act Hitler removed further opposition to the Nazi government!.
On 31st March Hitler closed down the state parliaments!. They were then reorganise so that the Nazis had a majority in each state of parliament!. In the following month he appointed state governors who were all Nazis!. They had the power to appoint and dismiss state officials and make state laws!. In January 1934 Hitler abolished state parliament!.
Next Hitler turned to the trade unions!. On May the 2nd 1933 Nazis broke into trade union offices all over the country and arrested thousands of trade union officials!. The unions then merged into a German labour front!. These actions meant that the Nazis would not be threatened by strikes or other union activities!.
Lastly the political parties were brought into line!. On May 10th the Nazis occupied the offices of the social democratic party, detruded its newspapers and confiscated its funds!.2 weeks later they confiscated all property and funds of the commonest party!. Bu July 1933 only one party was still in existence – The Nazi party!. Hitler made a law stating that the Nazi party was the only party aloud in the state!.
How the purge was carried out
In the early hours of 30th of June 1934 Hitler arrived at a hotel in the Bavarian resort of Bad Wiessee together with Rohm and other leading members of the SA!. Using his heaver armed SS, Hitler informed Rohn and the other leaders that they were under arrest!. They were taken to Munich were they were shot!. Over the next few days other leading members of the SA, such as Gregor Strasser, but also arrested by the SS and shot!. Up to 200 people were killed, including politicians such as von Schleicher!. He done this to remove possible rivals to his position!.

On 2nd August 1934, just weeks after the night of long knives, president Hindenburg!. Within hours Hitler had declared himself head of the state and commander of the army!. His new title was Fuhrer and Reich chancellor!. On the same day every solder in the German army swore an oath of unconditional obedience to Hitler!. Essentially Hitler did a lot of good for the German people as a politician!.

You have to think of Germany at that time as being practically on its knees!. The economy was almost non existent, people were poor and starving, and the whole nation was collectively depressed, moral was at rock bottom!.

Essentially Hitler looked after his own people, fixed the economy, and tapped into a sense of national pride that had not been there since before WWI!. Once he had that power he than whipped up nationalistic pride into a frenzy and rode that wave into power, using techniques that were used by religious leaders to promote a sense of fervour in his followers and promised them that now he had made Germany whole, he would make it powerful again!.

The second world war was a direct consequence of the way the victorious allies treated Germany after the first war!.

The Germans were blamed for the first war even though all the other European countries were jockeying for supremacy, the world literally blundered into war!.

After the war, the allies forced Germany to pay reparations, thus bankrupting them, they imposed draconian sanctions on them regarding their military powers!.

Hitler promised, and delivered national pride back to the German people, and against the Versailles Treaty, re-built the country economically as well as militarily!.

Actually, he was very popular because of the situation facing Germany at the time!. The great depression was wreaking havoc upon the whole international system, but specifically harder in Germany because of the Treaty of Versailles at the end of WWI!. The treaty basically made the Germans take all the war guilt for the war, and demanded they pay back the allies!. It also stripped them of their valuable overseas possessions!. This made Germany incredibly poor and inflation skyrocketed!. Hitler came along at the right time and promised food work and German brotherhood!. The people threw themselves at Adolf!. He brought pride back to the Germans, he preyed on the public's common fear of Jews, he brought back the military - even though it was illegal!. He made Germany great again!.

I think it was because he was pointing out issues that were happening at the time, he managed to struck a cord with his people to some level!.
It seems to me that it was because jews and other non-native ethnic groups were doing well economically speaking, where as some germans were struggling!. I think for the followers of the German national front at the time, it seemed that they were being robbed of their birthright by people who might not even share the same beliefs and values as them!.

You will have to research some more in wikkipedia, but i would definitely research the way of life in germany about the time that the german national front was formed pre-WW2!.
You will need to look at things like jobs, health care, and you might even need to look further back, to WW1 to find out how germany came to struggle economically from 1914 onwards!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Adolph Hitler was popular among Germans, (BTW he was not German, he was originally from Austria) because during this time in Germany people were going thru a major depression and having difficult times!.

Unemployment rosed drastically in Germany, as well in America and Britain at this time!. The Jewish bankers had created massive unemployment in Germany, so that created more chaos!. They did this by decreasing the supply of money, which racial renegade governments had allowed them to control entirely!.

Before Hitler came to power, 7 million Germans were unemployed and over 6 million only partially employed!. In the four bleak years from 1929 to 1933, despair and hopelessness caused the death by suicide of some 250K Germans!. Due to these situations, He made and created so many jobs for the Germans, in the following areas: production of steel, chemicals and general industrial production to feed the Germans and make them self-sufficient!. Because during the depression he was the one who was fit to give jobs and hope to the German people!.

My personal opinion was that he was big time racist, he believed only in the "white race" he believed that the "White Race was the culture of a great civilization and there should not be race-mixing!. He tried to destroy Christians churches, he massacred 6 millions innocents people called "Jews" he was described as cruel devious a coward and a Narcissist!. He was one "Individual" who terrorized the whole continent of Europe!. Should you have admirations for such a human like him!? Even today there are little "white" groups they still think he was such a great heroes to them!. Oh well!.

He promised to end the financial problems in Germany (result of Depression and hyperinflation)!.
The Weimar government had failed at solving the economic problems and so Hitler was a last resort! Anything could be better than the hardship they were going through!.
He indoctrinated the youth!. Many children grew up idolising him as they had been taught to in the Hitler Youth, school, TV!. Everything was censored and teachers that didn't support Hitler were sacked!. Scouts and other youth groups were abolished in favour of the Hitler Youth (and this was compulsory)!.
Everyone was very nationalistic, and agreed with Hitler's nationalistic policies!.
Hitler was anti-Semitic, and as the Jews had many of the good professional jobs due to their hardworking nature, many Germans were jealous and wanted these jobs for themselves!. So they voted for Hitler, who sacked them from their jobs so German's could have them!.
Any problems that occurred in Germany whilst he was Fuher!.!.!.!. he blamed on OTHER people!. And sometimes had them murdered!.
The SS ruled through terror!. They stood behind those voting in elections!. They were intimidated into voting for the Nazis!.!.!. and this intimidation continued once he was in power!. Political opponents were murdered, so those that opposed him were too scared to speak out!.

Because it was a time of economic depression and he gave them a target to unite agaisnt: Jewish people!.!. Blaming them for the economic decay and loss of World War 1!.!.
