Both are subjective terms!. To his followers he was a hero!.!.!. to those who opposed him he was probably seen as a terrorist!.
Ultimately, he was a product of his environment!. His heart was in the right place but his actions were perhaps "over the top!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

Probably neither!.

The government of Cuba that Castro, with Che as a follower, overthrew was very corrupt and criminal- Castro was massively popular among Cubans for good reason!. Those who label Castro and followers 'terrorists' always fail to mention the evil face of capitalism that they presumably support!. This evil regime was not capable of reform and had to be destroyed by an army!.

Che's efforts after Cuba were poorly planned and executed, showing he was very human and far from a mystical hero!.

But often the man is less important than the image of the man!. Hitler created a cult around Horst Wessell- a brawling street fighter who became a hero in the years after his death!. We are familiar with the cults of John F Kennedy and, say, Jim Morrison or Grace Kelly!.

We do not speak ill of the dead and once a person is dead then they can't speak for themselves, so their popularity and image are up for grabs by those who seek advantage!.

Che was subject to this process and I see those who openly support Che as supporting an idea, not a man!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Made Revolution sexy, and therefore popularised revolutionary thought!. His image alone made people read Marx, Lenin and Mao!.
None of which is anything to do with Che the man!.

what they did needed his kind to pull it off Batista was so corrupt they feared a counter attack for months so any threat big or small was taken serious by both Che and Castro no doubt they over reacted on more than 1 occasion
