Based on the definition of a Zionist, yes he was!. He was the only one to endorse (initially) Israel as an independent nation in 1948 against the wishes of his entire cabinet!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's not as simple as that!. He certainly was sympathetic to the Zionist cause, but I wouldn't go so far as to call him a Zionist!. He himself admitted that part of it was out of political expediency!.
