Question: In relation to dictatorships, does Hitler come off as an example of a personality cult or not!?
There's actually more to this question than what the title says!. Let me elaborate further!. After reading a book (published by bookseller Barnes and Noble) about dictators, it seems as if there is a trend where Communist dictators have a habit of developing a personality cult (i!.e!. Stalin, Mao, etc) where these rulers practically demand the world to revolve around them!.

For some reason, Adolf Hitler doesn't seem to fit that characteristic!. It seemed as if people naturally gravitated toward Hitler rather than in the cases of Stalin or Mao or Pol Pot where they had to physically demand respect from their people!.

In your opinion, does Adolf Hitler have a "personality cult" or not!? In relation to Communist dictators, why is there a trend of a "cult of the personality!?" From reading this book (I think it's titled "Most Evil Dictators in History" or something like that), it seems like a combination of Communist philosophy followed by some psychological issues!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In sociological terms there is not difference between the “AH Cult” and the “Commie cults”!. Legally AH had all his officers swear loyalty to him and people were arrested for not answering the “Heil H!.” (Ave H or Good Health to H) !. Incidentally “Heil” also means “cure” and the comedian who invented the joke “Heil Hitler!? why is he sick!?” was dragged off to a Lager!. How far can you go on a personality cult trip!?
Yes AH had a very marked personality cult, his “totem” was Mussolini, whom he revered!.
The whole idea of a Fuehrer, a Leader, is totally in line with the "beloved Leader" tag of Kim il Sung!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well when Hitler came into office, it was a time when the Germany people were very weak, after WW1!. The people were subject to big time inflation, shortage of food, and jobs!. The Germans looked to Hitler to fix their problems, the people 'naturally gravitated' toward him for this reason!. I would say he very well did have a cult, and the German people did share his beliefs!. AND yes, Hitler had plenty of psychological issues, including his wife beating father, a mother that died of breast cancer (he blamed her JEWISH doctor), and proving to himself, that he wasn't weak!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Interesting thing was that Stalin used "Cult of Personality" as a charge against people that he wanted to get rid of!

I do not believe he had a personality cult!. He demanded obedience and got it!. People did not gravitate to him!. He demanded they do as he said!. People did not follow him because they believed in him but because they were afraid not to obey!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
