Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Kingdoms back then were the countries of their time!. Just as today, wars break out all the time!. Do to advances in transportation and communication, wars can be fought by nations at a greater distance!. Back in the day, the world that they cared about was only the immediate area!. With the exceptions of the Crusades, wars were always fought in the general area of both participants!. Much like a fight will most likely occur between two people sitting next to each other, as opposed to a fight starting between someone in the front seat and someone in the rear!. Wars occur ed for many reasons!. Greed, power, expansion, were probably the biggest motivators!. On rare occasions wars could be fought for revenge, or justice!. So yes wars happened between neighboring countries all the time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Until 1066ad All of Britain was ruled by warlords (rather like most of Africa today - glad we evolved!) William the Conqueror invaded Britain and united it!. Before that, every "kingdom" would attack each other as a caveman dick-swinging contest to steal the best women, get the best land, etc!. No king could handle a large area, when other kings claimed to control nearby land!. So yes, they certainly did!. Every time one kingdom won, its land area got bigger, until England was one whole!. The most interesting book on this subject is the first volume of Winston Churchill's "History of the English Speaking Peoples"!.
