It was often called decoration day and took on different customs and was observed on different days across the country!. In the South, it is usually recognized on April 26!. In 1967 Congress made it officially the last Monday in May to honor all veterans in all wars!. Memorial Day is typically reserved for those who have died, although over the years it recognized both the living and non living veterans!.

Nov!. 11th was known as Armistist Day and was for those that fought in WW1!. After WW2, it became Veterans Day and also honors all veterans of all wars, and focus in on the living veterans more so than those not living!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The historical significance is to remember those who lost their lives fighting for this country, as well as a way to respect the ones who made it back home, or are still actively in the military!.
