Actually history has recorded, and considers the killing of John Birch by armed supporters of the Communist Party of China in 1945 as the official point of the start of WWIII!. The years from 1945 until the collapse of the Soviet Union is considered WWII, The Cold War!. If you're considering the invasion of Iraq as the start of a world war, it would be WWIV, not WWIII!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you mean 11 September 2001 and the subsequent military incursions into Afghanistan and Iraq, no!. These are fighting with criminal terrorists rather than a world war!.

However, you could make the case that there has been a type of a world war between extreme Islam and the Western cultures for about 1400 years!. However, most people (in particular politicians) do not like to admit that this is so!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
