I mean of course Germans of those times!. Do you believe they knew nothing of the event and cannot be blamed, or that they knew it was happening but chose not to care!?
Or do you think only Hitler and his cabinet were to blame!. Anyone who imagines that the 'average Germans' were unaware of what was happening to the jews is ignorant of German history!. They didn't mistreat the Jews behind closed doors, they did it openly in the streets!.Www@QuestionHome@Com More civilians new about it than the German regular army the "Wehrmacht"!. The civilians new because they were so close they could smell the death!. But on average no the do not bare the responsibility for it!. Nor does the regular army!. Hitler needed the army on his side so the Wehrmacht (regular army) was not part of it and kept out of it!. That is what the SS and Gestapo were for, they all new!. They bare the responsibility for it along with Hitlers henchmen!. also citizens who near and spoke up were taken away themselves and put into the camps!. So there was major incentive for those who spoke up to shut up!.Www@QuestionHome@Com I think you have to divide the average German into groups!. Those that lived near the concentration camps, I'm sure, knew something about what was going on!. Those that knew can also be divided!. If they did nothing because they agreed or did not care, then they are responsible!.
