Question: Is McCain a patriot!?
On a 60 minute interview, As a POW, Mccain confessed to the enemy!. He broke up like a baby (which he now says he regrets) when captured and started to spill all the war crimes he committed, bombing little children and defenseless women!. Does this make him a Patriotic American!? When is the money loving swift boat going after him to prove he was a whiner or not the one actually captured as the did J!. Kerry!? I thought all Americans POW when tortured remained silent till death!. (As in the movies)!. Ha Ha HaWww@QuestionHome@Com

This is totally not a history question!.
But he gets the hero credit mostly because the North Vietnamese offered to let him go, since his father was a big deal in the Navy (the McCains are practically Navy royalty)!. He refused to accept special treatment and would not accept his release until the other men were released as well!. And, hey, at least he was brave enough to fight, unlike the last two draft-dodging Presidents!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
This is not for you or anyone else to decide or even have an opinion about because you have no idea of what a POW goes through!. McCain suffered great agony as a POW just as they all did and he bore it as best he could, which is what they all did!.

A patriot is one who love his or her country!. He fought for his country; therefore, by definition he is a patriot!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
The military has the code of conduct!.
Article three says:
If I am captured I will continue to resist by all means available!. I will make every effort to escape and to aid others to escape!. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy!.
Article 5
When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am required to give name, rank, service number, and date of birth!. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability!. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies or harmful to their cause!.
Notice the words "upmost of my ability" McCain broke both arms and a leg in the crash!.Medical care was minimal!. He later had both shoulders broken as well as ribs during vietnamese torture sessions!. In the Hanoi Hilton POW were routinely beaten and tied in agonizing positions!. Today he has only limited range of motion in his arms!. Watch how he waves, the arms don't easily rise above his shoulders!.
Place yourself in his position!. Twenty four seven you are or might about to beaten, kept from sleeting, hungry, lousy, dirty and being told your nation has abandoned you!. Worse you don't know if it will end!. Now what would you be like after 5 years of this!?
I have met several POWs!. One pointed out that there was no way you could resist!. Your captors would work on you in shifts and playing John Wayne soon ended!. One POW did escape from North Vietnam!. The only time he mentioned his confinement was to mention eating elephant!. Another was a nurse captured on Corregidor!. She didn't speak about her confinement!.
It's really easy to watch "Rambo' and daydream about killing them all!. It's a lot different when you're getting the sharp end of the stick and just want the pain to stop!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
