Question: Civil War Letters!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Ok soo for my school project my teacher gave us her real civil war letters that she found years ago in her barn attic to a guy named George Freeman!. I got assigned a letter and now have to research the guy who wrote it maybe find out what battles he was in,family tree, a picture of the guy and any other interesting info the problem is i cant find ANY!!! i need help the guys name is John Andrews Ballard all i know is he was in the Company 6th, 11 Maine Regiment, 1st Brigade, 3rd Division, and the 2nd Corp

Are you sure that it was Company 6th!. I always thought that the Company's were either A, B, C, etc!. !? Are you trying to read the handwritten letter yourself or did someone transcribe it for you!?
There were a couple of possible ones!. but this is all I could find!. Do you have any other info!. in the letter that could be used to narrow it down!?
