Question: Origin of the Anzac Biscuit!?
I wanted to know what relation the Anzac Biscuit has to the war and also who thought of the idea!. Any additional information would be grand!. Thanks!.

During WWI, the women back home here in New Zealand and also in Australia became concerned about the nutritional value of the food being supplied to the soldiers!.

They wanted a food that traveled well, one that would not break, succumb to mold etc etc, so they came up with the idea of using a Scottish recipe of rolled oats and turned that into the basis of the idea of making them into biscuits!. Before Gallipoli, they were originally called Soldiers Biscuits but then the name Anzac Biscuits became synonymous after the event took place!.!.!.

As for your question of who thought of the idea, I don't think anyone actually remembers!. Although, as I mentioned before, the original recipe was from Scotland so I think they can take credit for that!. Curiously, eggs were not used in the making of the biscuits because during the war, most of the poultry farmers were away fighting so the binding agent used was golden syrup or treacle!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
