most Civil Rights events did not turn violent, Martin Luther Jr!. was preaching non-violent civil disobedience!. This was not the agenda of the racist South of the 40's 50's and 60's, they were okay with violence, especially their own!. If you watch some of the video taken, they were using batons on the dissenters who were trying to remain civil!. The police who were in the hands of local authorities were turning firehoses on the demonstrators and setting german shepherds on them!. At some point people had to defend themselves!.

The part about the Native Americans I can't answer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The old proverb "It takes two to tango" applies here!.

As with most human conflict, it can escalate - first one person throws an insult, then someone throws a punch, then a rock gets lobbed back, then someone gets a gun, etc, etc!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
