Position:Home>History> Atlantis on the Celtic Shelf?

Question: Atlantis on the Celtic Shelf!?
I know this is just one of a fair few theories, including Thera, the Antarctic, etc!.

I just wanted to know if anyone knew what happened to the expedition run by the institute of metahistory founded by Viatcheslav Koudriavstev to find out if this theory was accurate, if it indeed ever got off the ground!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

People should remember that there is exactly one reference to Atlantis in history!. That from a philosopher who used the "Island State" to depict a form of government, and who claimed that this particular civilization existed before there was even an Egypt!. There is absolutely no reason to believe that Atlantis really existed, though later civilizations such as the Minoans might have served as a "template" for the myth!. Still, if people have the time, money, and will to look!. go for it!. Who knows what might be stumbled on while looking for it!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

As much as I would LOVE to say it's possible!.!.!. it's not!.
There's just not any evidence, what little there is to begin with!.

If it DID exist, it was either around the Canary Islands or around the Bahamas !.!.!. possibly even a group of islands that stretched between the two places!.

The Piri Reis map even shows a large landmass in the Atlantic, that he copied from even older maps !.!.!. but even it was much further South than the area between the Canaries & the Bahamas!.
(He had 2 maps, one included the South American coast & the other included the North American coast, both were extremely accurate!.!.!.!.!.and then the map includes this huge landmass w/ animals drawn on it!. Antarctica, badly placed on a perfect map or an unknown landmass exactly where it was supposed to be!? Who knows!.)

Is it possible that we actually LOST some islands around the Celtic Shelf!? Yes!.
But could it have been Atlantis, if Atlantis existed!.!.!. no!.

I'm Irish, from an EXTREMELY ancient Irish family that was already WELL established in the year 1011 AD!. I would LOVE to believe they might be prodgeny from Ancient Atlantis!. But they are not!. And I am a believer that something existed that we called Atlantis!.

And bobfearon above was absolutely correct!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
