Easy, it didn't!. It's up to people reading any prophecy to determine what the prophecy says!. I've seen folks claim the Mayan calendar predicts the end of the world on December 12, 2012, December 21, 2012, and now December 31, 2012!. But what if the prophecy just said 12/12/12, or 12/21/12, or even 12/31/12!? There's a problem then, it doesn't give the century!. Meaning we could have already gone past the end of the world according to the prophecy or the century has yet to arrive!. It's up to people interpeting the prophecy to decide when it is supposed to occur!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is a misconception that the Earth is going to "end"!. It will not end in the sense of total annihilation, but in the sense of the world that we know now-conventional society!.
Humanity is on the brink of a grand convergence with it's spirituality!. A spirituality that has for a long time, been denied and rejected, but people are awakening to their true nature!.
It is also said that Humanity is going to "evolve"!. Those who are ready for evolution that is-those who seek a higher order to life and have grown tired of the Mundane, Conventional terror that we now call "Society"!. This can also be referred to in the Bible!.
MATTHEW 24
40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left!.
41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left!.
42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come!.

If anything I've learned the Bible is a good source of information about the coming times, but it should only be taken with a grain of salt!.

If you want to know how an "ancient" culture was able to know this, then further your research and you will know!.There is far more to it than just the Mayan Prophecies: That’s only the teeny-tiny-tip of the ice berg!.

Hope this HelpsWww@QuestionHome@Com

Does 'anyone' believe in the Mayan Calendar!? Yup! I'm sure of it!.

The fruitier the theory or prophecy, the more likely some naive or unbalanced person is going to believe it!.

But not me!. After all, the world DID end about 7 years ago already and all of humanity was moved to a different world (this one) at that time!. All the stupid people were put through a mind wipe so they wouldn't get freaked out about the whole thing and us smart people aren't supposed to spill the beans to the stupid!.!.!.!.!.!.!.

Ooops! Forget what i just said! Ummm, the Mayan Calendar is something to worry about for sure!

There have been lots of prophesies about the end of the world over the years that have gotten the attention of fervent belief in their various times!. When the magic date comes and goes and nothing happens, the folks making the prophesy do some more 'computations' and discover some error that pushes the date out a bit!.

Bottom line - some people will believe anything!Www@QuestionHome@Com

They came up with the date the same way the Millinarians thought the end of the world would be 1000AD-it had some significance in their culture!.

Me, I would LOVE to see a whole cosmic karma rebalancing thing, everybody getting down with Magna Mater again, but I don't think it's going to happen!.

Sadly!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Which calendar are you using!? It's 5700 something in the Jewish one!. There's also a 7 year math error in our calender, so it's really 2014!.

The Mayan calendar supposedly stops at "Dec!. 21, 2012, when the Maya's "Long Count" calendar marks the end of a 5,126-year era!. "

One problem is calculating this date to our calendar!. An excerpt from some discussion runs: "in which the Venus Round is cut short after 61 Venus cycles to locate a new 1 Ahau Sacred Day of Venus near an actual Venus morningstar appearance, is probably only one of many conceived by the Maya!.!.!.potent Venus Round of 37,960 days!.!.!.dichotomy between Lounsbury's work and Thompson's, !.!.!. correlation question!.!.!.Thompson correlation of 1930 (corr# 584285), while Thompson himself revised it 2 days in 1950 (corr# 584283)!.

So what will happen on this date (or has already happened, or may happen some indefinite time before or afterwards!?)

"Lawrence Joseph forecasts widespread catastrophe in Apocalypse 2012: A Scientific Investigation Into Civilization's End!. Spiritual healer Andrew Smith predicts a restoration of a "true balance between Divine Feminine and Masculine" in The Revolution of 2012: Vol!. 1, The Preparation!. In 2012, Daniel Pinchbeck anticipates a "change in the nature of consciousness," assisted by indigenous insights and psychedelic drug use!."

What so others say!?
"For the ancient Maya, it was a huge celebration to make it to the end of a whole cycle," says Sandra Noble, executive director of the Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies in Crystal River, Fla!. To render Dec!. 21, 2012, as a doomsday or moment of cosmic shifting, she says, is "a complete fabrication and a chance for a lot of people to cash in!."

As for disasters, a review of the last 40 years has these books and events predicting disaster:

1968 "Population Bomb"!. Too many people in the 1980s and starvation!.
"Famine 1975" In that year we run out of food
"Greening of America" We all become hippies eating un-homogenized peanut butter!.
"Future Shock" We'll have too many choices!. (The concept of multi-tasking wasn't known)
the 1970s had a concern of a "new ice age" we should increase the greenhouse effect
"Jupiter Effect" the planets will line up and the earth will do something!.
"Y2K" Points given for those that can explain "why" it was a concern!.
Millennium Supposedly it was to be the end of the world!. The question was"Is it 2000 or 2001!?"

If you get the impression, there's a lot of disaster predictions and they sell books, you're right!.

During the 1800s there were a number of movements that predicted the end of the world!. People gave away everything they owned and gathered to await the end!. A couple of days later, they started trying to get their stuff back!.

So what happened in 2013!? The "seers" will forecast another disaster and people will run aboutWww@QuestionHome@Com
