It's more correct to say that Hitler betrayed them! They were professional soldiers, and among them were some of the truly brightest military minds of the time (think Rommel and Guderian, for starters)!. Hitler gave them impossible tasks, and then issued increadibly stupid orders, like "no retreat" from positions in Russia!.

Now, given the fact that the generals had been given those sorts of foolish orders, and could see the toll following those orders was taking, yes, some German officers did particpate in a coup attemtp!. Pity that it failed!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I believe he was, but only because they realized he was completely out of his mind and had lost all reason and humanity!. What do you call someone who, instead of pecaefully surrendering, chooses to fight to the ned, putting his troops in harm's way, and vowing to destroy all else!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

What do you mean by betrayed!? Some of his officers tried to kill him, but failed!. Tom Cruise just made a movie about one of the officer's life!. (I don't know what rank)!. also, the last surviving member of the team just died recently!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Absolutely not!. He had some of the best generals in the war, and he betrayed them Hitler's ego, arrogance - hell his insanity - got in the way of his military judgement!.
