It would depend on their class!. The upper classes used to eat enormous meals!. Breakfast was a buffet, with many different dishes from which people helped themselves!. There were usually several hot dishes, bacon and eggs, sausages, chops, devilled kidneys, kedgiree (a dish of rice, eggs, and smoked fish), and toast, marmalade, porridge, tea, coffee etc!. Lunch would be several courses, and there would be afternoon tea at about four o'clock, tea, sandwiches, cakes etc!. Dinner later in the evening, about eight o'clock usually, with a great many courses, six or more was not unusual!. soups, meat and fish cooked in all kinds of ways, a variety of desserts!. An upper-class household would have a cook and at least one scullery maid to assist her!. Very posh households might have a male chef!.

The middle classes would eat less elaborately, but hearty meals all the same!. upper middle-class households would have a cook, and even a lower middle-class household, although the wife might have to do the cooking, would have a maid-of-all work to assist her!.

The working class would have a much less lavish diet, though of course there would be great variation depending on how well-off they were!. Pies and puddings were very popular in Victorian times, like steak-and-kidney pie or pudding, and sweet puddings like rice pudding, semolina, treacle pudding, jam roly-poy etc!. LOWER CLASS
The working family during the Victorian Era ate simple meals that included: bread, butter, potatoes, bacon, corn, and beer or tea!. They would heat everything up with an open fire or just eat it cold!.
UPPER CLASS
The richer people ate many different dishes and desserts every day!. In fact, it was during the Victorian Era that many of the complicated desserts and dishes appeared!. In Victorian England, if you ate quality pudding, ice cream, and jellies regularly you were considered sophisticated and had high status!. Though pudding and ice cream were popular, jellies were the all the rage for the rich families!. "Penny Ice" ice cream was a popular as well!. Did you know that Agnes Marshall was credited with inventing the first edible ice cream cone! Some dishes the upper class ate were: "de porc aux pruneaux" = pigs and prunes, "champ ignonsauer beurre d'escargots"= mushrooms stuffed with garlic, and "escargots a' bourguignonne" = snails in shallot and garlic butter!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Really when you think of it!.!.!.it was not all that long ago!.!.!.Q!. Victoria died in early 1900!. The ate much the same as we do now!.!.!.roast beef, probably venison since it was available, pork and probably mutton (gag) vegetables and more than likely fish as well!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
