The US found itself the standing superpower, everybody else having spent themselves into bankruptcy!. And as the only check to Soviet hegemony, the traditional American habit of demilitarization went out the window!. Our founding fathers had always warned us against a large standing army, and Eisenhower, even as he led the charge, warned us against the Congressional-military-industrial complex as altering the basic fabric of our government!. We lost the concept of our national government as limited in its scope and authority!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

because it brought us out of the depression and made the other countries very poor where as we were boosted and became the power house that we are today and showed that we were'nt the little country that everyone thought we were!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
