Question: Did the outer wall of the roman Colosseum go all the way around!?
Modern pictures of the Colosseum show an inner wall that is complete, and an outer wall that does not go all the way around!. did it fall down!? or was it designed that way!? sources would be nice!. Thanks!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Severe damage was inflicted on the Colosseum by the great earthquake of 1349, causing the outer south side to collapse!. Much of the tumbled stone was reused to build palaces, churches, hospitals and other buildings elsewhere in Rome!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

YES!. The outer wall has deteriorated over the years but when the building was new, the outer wall was complete!. You can see places where there has been an attempt to replace part of the wall during modern times!.

There was a recent program on the History Channel on how the Colosseum was built!. It was built with CONCRETE!.!.!. which was how the Romans built many of their famous structures, but they didn't discover it!.!. the Ancient Egyptians did and it's used in the bases of almost all of the Pyramids from the time of Corfu on to the end of that era!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, it did go all the way aorund originally, but collapsed in an earthquake within a hundred years if its construction!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
