The exact date is hard to pin down, first off there were several plays in this series!. The First Part of King Henry the Sixth is one of Shakespeare's history plays, believed written in approximately 1588-1590!. It is the first in the cycle of four plays often referred to as "The First Tetralogy"!.

It is thought that Part 1, as for most of his chronicle histories, was based upon the second edition of Raphael Holinshed's Chronicles published in 1587!.
