He found a non-violent way to fight opression, he named it 'Satyagraha' literally means 'faith on truth'!. The entire nation had faith in him and followed his principle of non-violence and non-co-operation!. To everyone's surprise it worked and India got its freedom!.

You will get many theories as an answer to this and to this day this a debated topic on both sides of the India-Pakistan border!.

My version is: This is a stamp of success to the British divide and rule policy where they planned and slowly injected hatred between Hindus and Muslims of the sub-continent to benefit the colonial rule and sadly it's not yet died!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

China: From the Civil War to the Cultural Revolution

During the Cultural Revolution, Mao's 'Red Guards' were most concerned with criticizing "bourgeois liberalism and Khruschevism' within the Chinese Communist Party itself!.

The 'Great Leap Forward' certainly was not a progressive attempt at industrialisation, in fact it was responsible for a grain shortage and the famine which followed!.

In addition to collectivising agriculture, people in the countryside were encouraged to build large-scale water -conservation works and even build backyard iron furnaces for iron and steel!.

During the Chinese Civil War (1927-1949) the peasants were the greatest source of support for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)!. Mao himself came from a peasant background, understood the peasants, and knew how to organise them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
