I don't think the public's trust for Nixon personally was impacted much at all. I never knew anyone who trusted him before Watergate.

The public's faith in the political system and in politicians in general was however badly shaken by Watergate. It's a sad state of affairs when the President of the United States is compelled to resign AND to begin a resignation speech with "I am not a crook." People have always been cynical about government but Watergate brought it to a whole new level that I don't think the country's ever fully recovered from.

I was never a fan of Richard Nixon but must say that despite his faults (and many of his actions were downright criminal) he was still an improvement over some leaders we've had since from either party.

It was really disgusting. Now it is in the open.Politicians are all LIES!! Thanks!!
