Gaius Marius - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaius_Mariu...
Constantine I - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constantine...

That's all i can think of off the top of my head for now. Obviously don't just use wiki for every piece of information you get, do a search on the names of these men and see what different sites you come up with - i came up with at least 2 pages of decent links for each, especially Caeser.

You'll find most of the greatest roman soldiers were either emperors or closely related - normal generals and soldiers did not have the luxury of having their names remembered, as the onus often fell on their superiors. Of course, if things went wrong, the generals would be blamed...

This may also help, it's a list of roman generals - I don't have the time but if you look through some of them you may find some very interesting facts...

Hadrian, research his monumental building of "Hadrian's Wall", in Britain. He knew a lot about where to place his defenses (forts and legions).
